Product Description
Are you tired of replacing your powersports battery every season — or worse, finding a dead battery after months in storage? Lead-acid batteries fail you at the worst moments: after sitting idle through winter, in extreme cold, or when your charging system pushes too much voltage. The EarthX ETX36D lithium battery is engineered to solve all of those problems at once.
The BMS Protection That Most Lithium Batteries Skip
The number one killer of any battery is over-discharge, and most lithium batteries on the market don't protect against it. Even worse, they void your warranty when it happens. The ETX36D includes a fully integrated Battery Management System (BMS) that guards against every major failure point:
- Over-discharge — the leading cause of premature battery failure
- Over-charge from your vehicle's charging system
- Short circuits and heat caused by excessive cranking
- Cell imbalance — corrected automatically, no special charger needed
That level of protection is rare in the powersports lithium category, and it's the reason loyal EarthX customers call the BMS an industry standard that other brands should follow.
Ready to Ride After Months in the Garage
A typical lead-acid battery loses up to 30% of its charge per month when sitting idle. The ETX36D loses less than 2%. That means you can store your snowmobile, motorcycle, or ATV for an entire off-season and come back to a battery that's still ready to start — without running a tender all winter. (Note: bikes with constant parasitic draws, like some Harley-Davidson models, will still benefit from a maintainer.)
Weight Savings You'll Actually Feel
At just 3.9 lbs, the ETX36D can save you 10 or more pounds compared to a stock lead-acid battery. On a snowmobile, that's weight you'll notice up front on the chassis. On a motorcycle or ATV, it translates to sharper handling and a bit more responsiveness. Less weight in the right place makes a real difference on the trail or the road.
Compatible With Your Existing Setup
The ETX36D works with most modern lead-acid chargers and all standard vehicle charging systems, so you don't need new equipment to get started. Just steer clear of older pulse-type or fully desulfating chargers, which aren't compatible with lithium chemistry. Terminal adapters are included in the box for easy installation.
Built to Last Years, Not Seasons
Rated for up to 4,000 charge cycles compared to roughly 350 for a lead-acid battery, the ETX36D has a potential service life of up to 8 years. It's backed by a full 2-year warranty — not prorated, not conditional — so you're covered if anything goes wrong.
Engineered and assembled in the USA, the EarthX ETX36D is ready to outlast, outperform, and outweigh every lead-acid battery you've ever used. Add it to your cart today and get free standard shipping to the contiguous 48 states.
Typical Charging Times

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the ETX36D work with my existing charger?
A: In most cases, yes. The ETX36D is compatible with modern lead-acid chargers and all standard vehicle charging systems. Older pulse-type or fully desulfating chargers should be avoided, as they aren't designed for lithium chemistry. When in doubt, an EarthX-compatible or LiFePO4-rated charger is the safest option.
What's the difference between the ETX36D and the ETZ14C for my snowmobile?
A: Both are designed for snowmobile use, but they're built differently. The ETX36D has 320 CCA, 12.4 Ah capacity, and a full BMS that includes over-discharge and excessive cranking protection, along with a 2-year warranty. The ETZ14C has slightly more CCA (330) but less capacity (6.8 Ah) and a more basic BMS that omits over-discharge and excessive cranking protection, with a shorter 1-year warranty. For riders who want the most complete battery protection, the ETX36D is the stronger choice.
Do I need a special adapter to install this battery?
A: Two terminal adapters and two 6mm screws are included in the box, covering the majority of installations right out of the packaging. A small number of applications with front-mount connections may require the separately available EarthX Terminal Adapter Kit. Check the cross-reference list on this page or contact us if you're unsure about your specific vehicle.
Is this battery only for snowmobiles, or can I use it year-round in other vehicles?
A: The ETX36D is a versatile powersports battery compatible with motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, personal watercraft, and more — not just snowmobiles. Its low self-discharge rate makes it especially well-suited for seasonal use, but it performs just as well as a year-round battery. Use the cross-reference list on this page to confirm fitment for your specific make and model.
Does this battery require any ongoing maintenance?
A: No. The ETX36D is completely maintenance-free. There's no water to add, no acid to check, and no sulfation to worry about. The built-in BMS manages cell balancing automatically. Keep the terminals clean and tight, and the battery handles everything else on its own.

Customer Reviews
I installed said battery in my 2021 Street Bob to replace my troublesome OEM battery. Now I can leave my jump box at home with confidence.
Now I can forget about the battery tender routine.
Installed on my 1976 Harley. The last battery, a Decka only lasted one year. I thought I would try a lithium battery this time. I am pleased with the battery so far, it’s only been on the bike for a few weeks . Time will tell. The bike cranks over good and starts easy.
Replaced my Honda talon battery perfect fit
Lithium batteries have the potential to overdischarge, and the BMS is failsafe circuitry not found in some other brands to not allow this from happening. In an over discharged state, the lithium battery fails to accept a recharge. I returned a WPS featherweight lithium battery because it would not charge with a proper lithium charger after not cranking over my motorcycle. I'm starting to suspect it was overdischarged, even though I questioned this circuitry design, and was told "all lithium batteries have this" when I bought it. I received a new battery from the dealer, but I still have to be careful, lithium batteries self-discharge even with no use, and without failsafe circuitry, that spells trouble. On the other hand, my 2nd motorcycle has an Earth-X lithium, and thus far, no issues. Going forward, my lithium battery of choice for motorcycles will be Earth-X exclusively.
The battery fit perfectly in my 09 Yamaha RS Venture GT. Spun up engine with seemed like more rpm from the starter. I lost 11 or so lbs up front by losing the lead acid battery (2nd Yuasa since new). I am hoping this new technology EarthX gives me no fail starting all winter.
It starts my 117 cu. in. Big Dog effortlessly, I'm impressed.
The Harley battery I had on this when I bought it never spent it over fast enough this battery spends it right over every time definitely will stick with these type batteries from now on
