Frequently Asked Questions about 24 Volt Chargers
Why do some 24V battery chargers say "California Compliant"?
The California Energy Commission (CEC) sets out to reduce energy costs and environmental impact of energy use. Battery chargers are a product that needs certification before they can be legally sold or offered for sale in California and Oregon.
If you see "California Compliant" on a 24V charger offered by BatteryMart.com, you can be sure that it has been certified and meets or exceeds all requirements of the CEC.
How long can I leave a charger connected to a battery?
Most chargers can be grouped into two categories: Manual and Automatic.
If the charger is a manual one, you shouldn't leave it on the battery after the charging process is complete. The charger won't detect the battery if fully charged, and will keep trying to charge the battery more. If you leave it on, this can cause damage to your battery and charger.
Automatic chargers, in theory, can be left connected forever. In practice, though, we recommend you check on the battery at least once every couple of weeks. Just in case!
