Product Description
If your child's favorite ride-on has been sitting in the garage, it's probably time for a new battery. The Peg Perego IAKB0501 is the official 12-volt, 12Ah rechargeable battery used across the entire lineup of Peg Perego 12V ride-on vehicles — from John Deere tractors and Gators to Polaris ATVs and Ducati motorcycles. It ships fully charged and ready to install, so the only thing standing between your kid and the driveway is a few minutes of your time.
Genuine Peg Perego quality
This is the same battery that comes installed in new Peg Perego vehicles from the factory. It's a sealed AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) lead-acid battery housed in Peg Perego's signature blue tamper-resistant case. The sealed design means no acid spills, no water to add, and no maintenance — ever. A built-in thermal protector adds an extra layer of safety by shutting down the battery if it gets too warm, protecting both the battery and your child's vehicle.
More playtime between charges
At 12Ah, the IAKB0501 delivers roughly 50% more run time than the original 8Ah battery (IAKB0014) that came in many earlier Peg Perego vehicles. That means longer rides, fewer interruptions, and happier kids. On average, riders can expect about 1.5 hours of use per charge on flat terrain — though this will vary depending on the surface, the rider's weight, and how aggressively the throttle gets used.
A spare battery is a popular option for families with multiple kids or longer outdoor sessions. Because the IAKB0501 is a direct plug-and-play replacement, swapping a depleted battery for a freshly charged one takes just minutes.
Easy installation
The IAKB0501 uses the same wire harness connector as all other 12V Peg Perego batteries, so there's no cutting, splicing, or guesswork involved. Simply:
- Remove the old battery from the vehicle's battery compartment.
- Connect the new IAKB0501 using the existing wire harness.
- Place the battery in the tray and secure it under the hold-down bracket.
Note: The IAKB0501 is slightly wider than the older 8Ah battery. If you're upgrading from an 8Ah model, the battery will still fit under the hold-down bracket — the small plastic spacer block that came with the original 8Ah battery simply won't be needed.
Caring for your battery
To get the most life out of your IAKB0501, charge it after each use with a compatible Peg Perego 12V charger. During winter storage or extended periods of non-use, charge the battery every three months to prevent it from fully discharging. A well-maintained IAKB0501 can last two to three years under normal use conditions.
Keep your Peg Perego battery healthy
We ship out all Peg Perego batteries fully charged. However, we recommend that you have the Peg Perego charger to keep it healthy.
It's a good idea to recharge the battery every three months when the toy is not in use. This is important during the Winter when the toy might sit for extended periods of time. Keeping the battery maintained will make sure that when the toy is being used again, it'll run for a long time.
After use, you should charge the batteries immediately. You should never run down batteries and let them sit in a discharged condition for long. If they sit for too long, there's a good possibility they'll never power the toy for as long as it should. So, keep the batteries charged and maintained!
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if this battery fits my child's vehicle?
The IAKB0501 is compatible with all Peg Perego vehicles that use a 12-volt battery system. This includes all John Deere, Polaris, Ducati, and Case IH models made by Peg Perego. If your vehicle uses a 12V battery with the blue case and standard Peg Perego connector, this is the correct replacement. See the full compatibility list on this page for specific vehicle names and part numbers.
Will this battery fit if my vehicle came with a smaller 8Ah battery?
Yes. The IAKB0501 is slightly wider than the original 8Ah battery (IAKB0014), but it will fit in the same battery tray under the hold-down bracket. You won't need the small plastic spacer block that came with the 8Ah version. Upgrading to the 12Ah IAKB0501 also gives your child about 50% more run time per charge.
How long does a full charge typically last?
On average, the IAKB0501 provides approximately 1.5 hours of ride time per charge on flat, hard surfaces. Run time will vary depending on terrain, the rider's weight, driving style, and ambient temperature. Riding on grass or inclines will reduce battery life compared to smooth pavement.
What charger do I need for this battery?
Use only a compatible Peg Perego 12V charger, such as the MECB0034 or the quick charger IKCB0081. Using a non-compatible charger can damage the battery and may void any applicable warranty. Battery Mart carries Peg Perego chargers separately if you need one.
How should I store the battery during winter?
Store the battery indoors in a cool, dry location. When the vehicle won't be used for an extended period — such as over winter — charge the battery fully before storing it, and give it a maintenance charge every three months. Allowing the battery to fully discharge during storage can permanently reduce its capacity or render it unrechargeable.
Is it safe to buy a second battery as a spare?
Yes, keeping a second charged battery on hand is a great idea for extended play sessions. Simply swap the depleted battery for a fully charged spare and keep the other on the charger. Just be sure to cycle both batteries regularly — a battery that sits unused and uncharged for months will deteriorate faster than one that gets regular use.

Customer Reviews
Company was very helpful in what I needed Battery fit perfect
Excellent product! I live in Hawaii so not many companies ship these types of batteries here even though there was a little delay as shipping product received came and worked perfectly. Definitely will use them in the future again! Thank you battery mart.
Looked for a while trying to find right battery. Works great and has made a little boy very happy.
It has really come in handy. While my grandson rides his tractor the other battery is charging. It lasts for a good 4-6 hours. I am really happy I made this purchase. The only thing was when we opened the package the handle was broken but were keeping it anyways.
So for batteries doing the job
Very good to deal with.
Excellent Service & Delivery.
