Side Terminal Disconnect Switch FAQ

Q: What is the primary purpose of this battery disconnect switch?

A: This switch serves two main purposes: to prevent battery drain from parasitic loads when your vehicle is not in use, and to act as a theft deterrent by functioning as a battery kill switch. It quickly and easily disconnects the battery from the vehicle’s electrical system with a simple turn of the knob.

Q: Is this switch universal for all car batteries?

A: This specific model is designed to fit GM-style side terminal batteries only. If your car has a top terminal battery, you will need a different type of disconnect switch.

Q: How difficult is the installation?

A: Installation is very straightforward and can be done with basic tools. The switch is installed directly onto the negative battery post. You simply remove the negative battery cable, attach the switch to the terminal, and then reconnect the cable to the switch's post. A detailed installation guide is included on the product description above.

Q: Can the knob be completely removed

A: Yes, the knob can be completely unscrewed and removed. This feature makes it an effective kill switch to deter vehicle theft and ensures no one can reconnect the battery without the knob.

Quick delivery, good quality, exactly as described. I modified the ends of the switch to be used with a motorcycle battery that has 6 mm X 1.00 bolts. I modified one for my Trike and another of a buddy's two wheeler. Exactly what we needed and wanted. An easy way to completely remove our Odyssey batteries from any parasitic drain when sitting.
