This Dakota Lithium 12V 7Ah battery can retain up to 80% capacity for 2,000 cycles in recommended conditions*. The typical SLA has 500 cycles. As of this writing, our 12V, 7Ah SLA battery is $17.95 and the Dakota Lithium MSRP is $69.95. Roughly, you'll need four (4) SLAs to match the lifespan of a single Dakota Lithium 12V7Ah. Therefore, you'll spend (before shipping): $17.95 * 4 = $71.80 in SLA batteries. That's a fairly close comparison to the $69.95 of Dakota Lithium's battery. However, a few other points to consider:
- Dakota Lithium has a world beating, best in class, eleven (11) year manufacturer defect warranty (the SLA has only one year).
- Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 7 Amp hours. They have a "flat" voltage curve, meaning they provide a steady 7Ah output as the battery's charge depletes. An SLA will get weaker, providing less output as the battery is used. In practice, the LiFePO4 battery provides a 75% larger capacity over an equivalent SLA.
