Product Description
The TOPDON BT100 is a compact, easy-to-use battery and charging system tester built for drivers and DIYers who want professional-grade diagnostic information without the complexity or cost of a high-end shop tool. Clamp it onto any 12V lead-acid battery, and within seconds you have a clear, complete picture of battery health, starting performance, and charging system output — all on a bright backlit display that's easy to read in any lighting condition.
Complete Battery Health Analysis, Including Internal Resistance
The BT100 goes deeper than a basic voltage check. Using advanced conductance testing technology, it measures State of Health (SOH), State of Charge (SOC), and — notably — internal resistance, which is one of the most accurate indicators of how a battery is aging. A battery can show acceptable voltage while still failing under load; internal resistance tells you what a voltage reading alone can't. Results are displayed in detail on screen, and three LED indicators — GOOD, CHARGE, or BAD — give you an instant visual status without having to interpret numbers.
Cranking Test to Catch Starting Problems Early
Starting an engine is the hardest thing a battery does. The BT100's cranking test measures starting voltage and crank time under load to show you whether the battery is delivering reliable starting power or beginning to show signs of weakness. If a battery is struggling to crank the engine before it fails outright, the BT100 will catch it — giving you time to replace it on your schedule rather than the battery's.
Charging System Test With Ripple Analysis
A battery that keeps dying isn't always a bad battery. The BT100's charging test checks the alternator and voltage regulator by analyzing loaded voltage, unloaded voltage, and ripple output. The ripple test is a valuable addition — it can identify a failing alternator diode that might otherwise go undetected until it causes battery drain or electrical gremlins. Knowing whether the fault is in the battery or the charging system saves you from replacing the wrong part.
12V Coverage for All Lead-Acid Battery Types
The BT100 tests all common 12V lead-acid battery chemistries — Flooded, AGM Flat Plate, AGM Spiral, Gel, and EFB — across a 100 to 2,000 CCA testing range. Ten international battery rating standards are supported: CCA, CA, BCI, MCA, DIN, IEC, EN, SAE, JIS, and GB, covering batteries from virtually any manufacturer or market. It is designed for 12V systems; for shops or users who also need to test 24V batteries and commercial vehicle systems, the BT200 supports both.
Compact, Portable, and Ready to Use Anywhere
At just 0.6 lbs and roughly 5.4 × 3 × 0.9 inches, the BT100 fits in a glovebox, a tool bag, or a jacket pocket without taking up meaningful space. The 2-inch backlit LCD delivers clear, readable results whether you're in a bright driveway or a dim garage. Like all TOPDON battery testers, it powers directly from the vehicle through the test clamps — no batteries to charge, no app to configure, just clamp on and test. Reverse polarity protection keeps you and the tester safe if the clamps are connected backward. Available in 6 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Russian.

Shop BT100WFrequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the BT100 and the BT200?
A: The primary difference is voltage system coverage. The BT100 tests 12V batteries and systems only, while the BT200 supports both 12V and 24V battery, cranking, and charging system testing — making the BT200 the better choice for users who also work on commercial trucks, RVs, or heavy equipment. The BT100 adds an internal resistance reading and comes with a 2-year warranty vs. the BT200's 1-year warranty. The BT200 features a slightly larger 2.4-inch color LCD, while the BT100 uses a 2-inch backlit display.
What is the difference between the BT100 and the BT100W?
A: The BT100 and BT100W are the same tester at their core, but the BT100W adds Bluetooth connectivity and support for the BatteryLab smartphone app. With the BT100W, test results can be logged wirelessly, records can be managed from your phone, and reports can be generated through the app. The BT100 operates fully standalone with no app or wireless connection.
What does the internal resistance reading tell me?
A: Internal resistance measures how much opposition exists within the battery to the flow of current. As a battery ages and degrades, its internal resistance increases — even if its voltage still appears normal. A high internal resistance reading is often an early warning sign that a battery is approaching the end of its useful life and may fail under the high-current demands of starting, even when it appears to be holding a charge.
What is a ripple test, and why does it matter?
A: The ripple test checks the alternator's AC ripple output, which is a measure of how cleanly the alternator converts mechanical energy into DC power. A healthy alternator produces very little AC ripple. When one or more diodes inside the alternator begin to fail, ripple increases — which can cause slow battery drain, electrical interference, and eventually a dead battery. The ripple test can catch a failing alternator diode before it causes bigger problems.
Does the BT100 test 24V systems?
A: No. The BT100 is designed for 12V batteries and systems only. If you need to test 24V batteries and commercial vehicle charging systems, the TOPDON BT200 supports both 12V and 24V testing.
Does the BT100 require an app or smartphone?
A: No. The BT100 is a fully standalone device that requires no app, no smartphone, and no pairing. It powers directly from the vehicle through the test clamps and is ready to use immediately. If app connectivity is important to your workflow, the BT100W is the Bluetooth-enabled version of this tester.
What languages does the BT100 support?
A: The BT100 supports 6 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Russian.
What is included in the box?
A: The BT100 ships with the tester unit (with attached test clamps) and a user manual.
