Battery Testing Procedure

Once a returned battery is received back at Battery Mart, we will start by charging the battery in full. These batteries are supervised during the recharge process to ensure proper charging. If the battery can be recharged, it will sit for a 48-hour period before we begin load testing and/or capacity testing to factory specifications. The 48-hour period will determine if the battery can hold a charge prior to load testing or capacity testing. If the battery fails during any point of the testing process, then the battery is warrantied. If the battery tests good, it will be shipped back, at the customer's expense, fully charged with a copy of the test results.

I just received my battery from BatteryMart.com and it isn't fully charged

New batteries are shipped in a discharged condition and must BE charged before use. We generally recommend an overnight charge (approximately twelve hours) for NiCad batteries and a 24 hour charge for Nickel Metal Hydride. Refer to your manual for charging instructions. Rechargeable batteries should be cycled - fully charged and then fully discharged - 2 to 4 times initially to allow them to reach their full capacity. (Note: it is perfectly normal for a battery to become warm to the touch during charging and discharging).

Rechargeable lithium batteries, such as Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) and Lithium Polymer (Li-Poly) are also shipped in a discharged condition. ICAO/IATA regulations will limit the state of charge to 30% for shipping, so you will need to fully charge these batteries once you receive them to maintain them.
