Frequently Asked Questions about 12V SLA Batteries
What charger should I use for my 12V SLA battery?
Some applications will charge the 12V SLA battery automatically, like alarm or backup systems. You shouldn't need to take the battery out and put it on a charger.
If you do need a charger for your application, generally you will want a charger that is ~10% of the capacity rating of the battery (at a 20hr rate).
For example, if you wanted to charge a 12 volt, 20 Ah battery, you would select a 12 volt charger with about 2 amp charging output (20 x 0.10 = 2)).
What SLA battery should I buy for my application?
We recommend starting with the voltage and dimensions. Most SLA batteries can be matched with that information. Then, you should check the terminal size and type. This is important if the battery uses spade (sometimes called blade) terminals as these come in two sizes: F1 and F2.
What is the life of a 12 volt SLA battery?
The overall longevity of your battery will depend on a number of factors, including the application it's installed in, operating temperature, and the charging method. Most SLA batteries last between 300-500 cycles (recharges).
